The New TXU Energy PriceGuarantee 24(SM) Plan Protects Against Price Increases for the Next Two Years

HOUSTON, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- TXU Energy, the retail electric provider serving the most customers in Texas, announced today the launch of TXU Energy PriceGuarantee 24(SM), a new pricing plan that protects consumers from electricity price increases for 24 months and offers lower prices based on the amount of electricity consumed.

PriceGuarantee 24 is available in markets where other competing electric providers offer a Price to Beat rate, including Houston, Corpus Christi, and Abilene, and is one of TXU Energy's most competitive plans available to date.

PriceGuarantee 24 offers eligible new and existing TXU Energy customers a price that will not go up for two years, thus avoiding increases caused by the volatility of electricity pricing that often occurs because of the close correlation between electricity prices and natural gas prices in Texas. Over the two-year term, PriceGuarantee 24 can save the customer between $250 and $600 or more off the current Price to Beat rates, depending on the service territory and the amount of electricity the customer uses. *

The TXU Energy PriceGuarantee 24 plan offers the additional benefit of a volumetric discount based on consumption, providing a lower price per kilowatt hour as usage increases. The plan also features no monthly customer charge.

"PriceGuarantee 24 offers significant savings that range from four to 11 percent or more, depending on that territory's current Price to Beat rate and customers' consumption habits. Plus, customers will pay a lower rate per kilowatt hour as their electricity consumption increases," said TXU Energy Vice President Dave Hennekes.

PriceGuarantee 24 guarantees that rates will be fixed against virtually all price increases during the term, with the exception of price increases resulting from changes in law or regulatory charges.

"TXU Energy has introduced a variety of service plans this year, and we're excited about the many options we currently have available. This is the newest offering in our 2006 portfolio that includes service plans such as TXU Energy Freedom Plan(SM), TXU Energy PriceGuarantee 12(SM), and TXU Energy SummerSavings 24(SM)," said Hennekes.

Customers must reside in a single-family house to qualify for TXU Energy PriceGuarantee 24 and other TXU Energy term service plans. Customers in all dwelling types may qualify for the TXU Energy Freedom Plan, which offers a guaranteed five percent discount to the Price-to-Beat rate with no contract required. Eligibility requirements, terms and conditions apply. Call 1-800- 941-4TXU for more details.
