April 22, 2010, Cincinnati, OH - THE MODAL SHOP, INC., A PCB Group Co. announces the hiring of Art Rich as the Director of Asia Pacific Sales. Art previously held a similar position with IO Tech in Cleveland with the responsibility for supporting IO Tech's nondestructive test products and industrial monitoring products at major manufacturing companies throughout the PacRim.

The Modal Shop's President, Michael Lally comments, "Art's prior experience with the PacRim market, as well as his tenure with IO Tech, makes him an ideal complement to our growing NDT and industrial monitoring operations. His deep experience with industrial systems, "can-do" style with customers and rapid response will expand The Modal Shop's and PCB Group's reputation for Total Customer Satisfaction."

The Modal Shop provides dynamic measurement solutions for manufacturers and industrial customers worldwide. Nondestructive quality-testing systems for powder metal, cast, ductile iron and forged parts using the Resonant Acoustic Method (NDT-RAMTM) technique has proven effective for many manufacturers in a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, and medical devices. NDT-RAM is ideal for manufacturers that have substantial inspection costs, require 100% inspection, produce or use safety-critical parts, have substantial, or simply want to improve their part quality. With no part preparation required, NDT-RAM can successfully identify internal and external flaws due to cracks, voids, material density, dimensions, porosity and nodularity as well as missed manufacturing processes.

TMS also offers, the BEAR (Band Energy Alert Recorder) application. For a simple yet effective way to monitor and trend the evolving condition of most manufacturing equipment, it uses the vibration signature of a complex machine for monitoring of its process quality or condition health. For example, frequencies of interest may include those of a drive or multiple drives, gearboxes, rolls, spindles and/or self-excited chatter frequencies. By monitoring and trending certain critical bands, problems are detected in advance, equipment maintenance costs are minimized and machinery life maximized.
