The Galveston County, Texas, dramatically improved its decision response time with a new Emergency Operations Center.
The new Emergency Operations Center features two QuadView processors, displaying three computer and videos on two front screen projectors. Eight workstations provide DVD, VCR, and computer graphics inputs, each one being managed by a separate agency (County Sheriff, Office of Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Forestry Department, Department of Public Safety, Red Cross). The workstations feed a 16x16 matrix switcher that in turn feeds the two QuadView processors. This allows for the immediate displaying of strategic information such as severe weather, train status, simulations of toxic spill expansion for evacuation, and evacuation routes.
