LONDON, October 31 -- LogicaCMG, a leading IT services company, now operating in France under the brand Unilog, a LogicaCMG company, today announced that it has been chosen by the French land army to upgrade its Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Following the increased professionalism of the French army and new legislations coming into place, the army has started to upgrade its Human Resources management system. The new Human Resources Information System (HRIS), a project started by the French Ministry of Defence in December 2002, introduces a solution to manage human resources that will over time allow HR information to be shared on an inter-army level.
The project aims to design, develop and install the army's HRIS within the technical environment of the Ministry of Defence, taking account of the complexity of its organisation, its mission and the scope of its HR dimensions including recruitment, management, conversion and training amongst others. This project reflects the move towards mutualisation being carried out by the General Management for State Modernisation. Its division for the development of electronic administration is responsible for accompanying public bodies in the development of IT solutions to modernise their functions and management.
Based on mySAP ERP HCM, the new solution will enable the army to benefit from a unique and homogenous database, indispensable to the management planning of staff, jobs and skills from January 2008 onwards. The land army will soon be able to manage 240,000 military personnel as 10,000 managers and day to day users will be trained on HRIS at all of the 500 French army's sites in France and worldwide.
General Alain Gilles from the French Army said: "Following a competitive tender we chose Unilog, a LogicaCMG company, because of its excellent references in the development of similar projects across the world. The company has also considered the practical constraints, especially regarding the continuity of the army's HR missions, by using its operational expertise for the development of the new information system."
Patrick Guimbal, Unilog Executive Board Member and Executive Committee Member of LogicaCMG, said: "We are proud that the French Army entrusts us with this major and complex project which supports the modernisation of the public sector in France. This contract confirms our ambition to achieve a leading position in providing HR solutions to our customers worldwide."
