Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Will Feature Demonstrations of Real-Time Video and Internet Access Over Strix Systems' Solution

CALABASAS, Calif., April 3 / -- Strix Systems, the leader in high-performance wireless mesh networking, today announced that its Access/One Network Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) will be featured at the City of Sacramento's "Cutting the Wires" ceremony, which marks a milestone for the citywide wireless project. Strix expects that in the near future the Sacramento network, with 2,000-plus wireless mesh nodes planned, will be even larger than the Strix network in Tempe, Arizona, which is the largest citywide mesh deployment in the United States.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at Cesar Chavez Plaza on Tuesday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. The event will showcase demonstrations of how the outdoor wireless network provides real-time video surveillance and Internet access using Strix Systems' multi-channel, multi-RF, and multi-radio wireless mesh.

The first phase of the proposed network will initially cover 10 square miles including downtown Sacramento, Old Town, and the state capital area; coverage will increase as the project progresses. The multi-spectrum (WiFi, WiMAX), multi-radio mesh network provided by Strix Systems will enable a range of free and fee-based services and provide secure high-speed access to data, voice, and video throughout the proposed coverage area. Subscription services will be offered on an annual, monthly, daily, and hourly basis and will allow access to multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

"We are pleased to be deployed in yet another large citywide wireless mesh network, especially for the capital of California, since Strix is based in the state," said Jim Mooreland, vice president of worldwide sales at Strix Systems. "Our selection is clearly a tribute to Strix's industry-leading mesh solutions. We look forward to contributing to the success of this citywide wireless network deployment."
