Press release date: August 21, 2014

Quick disconnects can greatly improve the function and usability of a product by simplifying fluid connections/disconnections. They look uncomplicated from the exterior and, if you are fortunate, your quick disconnect applications are always straight forward and leak-tight.

On second thought (you knew there was a catch...didn't you?), should you select a no shut-off, single shut-off, double shut-off, dry break, or flat face configuration for your design? What about the effective orifice size? Now you are probably thinking there is more to quick disconnect selection than you initially thought (chuckle). Alas, many quick disconnect applications involve considerations that require at least a basic understanding of the most critical design parameters as well as knowledge of the available configurations to specify the best solution.

It is likely that the design and selection of quick disconnects was not covered extensively while you were in school or during your on-the-job training and even if this topic was discussed it is possible that you do not recall the details now. You may be asking yourself the question: Where do I turn for help? I'm glad you asked. Beswick Engineering and Machine Design magazine offer "The Basics of Quick Disconnects" tutorials. These tutorials can be viewed at the Beswick website link (http://www.beswick.com/basics-quick-disconnects) or downloaded from the Machine Design website (http://machinedesign.com/cables-connectors-enclosures/basics-quick-disconnectors).

After you've familiarized yourself with the tutorials you may want to consult our miniature quick disconnect selection guide (http://www.beswick.com/quick-disconnect-selection-guide). If you have an immediate question you can reach a Beswick Applications engineer by calling 603-433-1188, e-mailing besales@beswick.com, or by conversing with one of our engineers via our website www.beswick.com

Leverage our 50 years of expertise (we've been at this for awhile) to solve your difficult application today.
