Press release date: March 21, 2006

DALLAS (March 21, 2006) - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) will present a training seminar entitled "2006 Precision Analog Applications" in several U.S. and Canadian cities during April and June. These one-day, in-depth technical seminars will focus on common circuit applications that require precise measurement of temperature, light and weight. Topics include remote sensor monitoring, thermocouples, data acquisition systems and bridge measurement systems. For complete information on dates, locations and cost, and to register for a seminar, see www.ti.com/paaseminar06.

The training seminar, created for TI customers, will highlight techniques and provide examples for precise design applications. TI instructors will offer advice on accurate sensor measurement from remote locations and provide a detailed discussion on sensor characteristics and signal conditioning. In addition, they will illustrate how to properly condition signals from thermocouples for use in measurement systems.

Design challenges and guidelines will be covered during a segment on data acquisition systems. A variety of approaches will be discussed for resolving problems in systems with several inputs from various sensor and signal sources. Instructors will describe the pros and cons of using separate converters for each signal or multiplexing them, and will share concerns with using delta-sigma converters in multiplexed systems.

A special segment on interfacing converters with bridge arrangement systems will cover effective signal conditioning and filtering and provide detailed information on a unique reference design from TI that implements a high-precision weigh scale.

Throughout the day, there will be sidebar discussions on easy-to-use tools and techniques. Free tools such as TINA-TI, for designing, simulating and analyzing analog electronics circuits, will also be demonstrated, along with FilterPro, used for developing active filters. In addition, instructors will highlight considerations for driving successive-approximation (SAR) analog-to-digital converters and circuit board layout that will lead to improved designs.

TI offers analog engineers a wide-ranging support infrastructure that includes training and seminars, design tools and utilities, technical documentation, evaluation modules, an online KnowledgeBase, a product information hotline and a comprehensive offering of samples that ship within 24 hours of request.
