Terex® Demag Delivers New 700-Ton Crane To Wiesbauer

First mission: Immediate tandem lift with second AC 700

The crane company Wiesbauer has updated its range of large cranes with a new Terex® Demag AC 700. The crane was fully-equipped upon delivery and included a 160-ton counterweight, a Sideways Superlift (SSL), a main boom extension of up to 36 meters, a rigid fly jib of up to 50 meters, and a luffing fly jib with a length of up to 96 meters.

The Terex® Demag AC 700 was selected, according to Wiesbauer, because it is currently the most powerful telescopic boom mobile crane approved for road travel. Additional factors leading to its selection included the AC 700's outstanding load capacities and its simple and quick handling.

Wiesbauer handles jobs all over Germany and in bordering countries. The crane specialist has relied for years on products from Zweibrücken-based Terex Demag for its largest capacity cranes. The first crane in Germany with a 650-ton lifting capacity was delivered to Wiesbauer in 1999. That model was an AC 650 with SL-bracing. The recently delivered AC 700 is Wiesbauer's fourth in this crane class.

First application - Transfer work via tandem lift
For its debut mission, the new AC700 travelled directly from the factory at Zweibrucken to the wharf for heavy loads at the Port of Heilbronn. There, five MAN marine engines were transferred to a cargo ship by means of a tandem lift with a second AC 700. Each engine weighed 225 tons.

Marco Wilhelm, technical field service, commented on the job: "What is unusual about this transfer is that, with this number of motors involved, the crane must be moved through ballasting and be re-positioned several times in order to move the engines from the back to the front area of the wharf. Because of this, both 700-tonners were equipped with short telescoped booms, as well as a 100-ton part ballast."

Wiesbauer makes heavy work light
Since its foundation in 1958, the Wiesbauer Company has lived up to its motto: "Making heavy work light" for its clients. To accomplish this, the company offers the appropriate machine and comprehensive know-how for each assignment: from crane work, passing through heavy loads, all the way to assembly. The company's core expertise is the crane business, where it has 45 cranes currently in service. The performance of its telescopic boom cranes ranges from 30 to 700 tons, while its lattice boom cranes lift up to 800 tons. In 2005, Jochen and Thomas Wiesbauer took over the company's management, thus bringing it into its third generation. The company provides transport and assembly services, while continuing to bring innovation to its crane business.
