Teledyne LeCroy Announces New Support for M-PCIe Specification in TeleScan(TM) PE Utility

View and Write M-PCIe(TM) Device Configuration Space

TOKYO -- PCI-SIG Developers Conference - Teledyne LeCroy, the worldwide leader in protocol test solutions, today announced a new enhancement to TeleScan PE, a configuration space scanning and editing software application supporting PCI Express® 3.0 (PCIe(®)) technology. TeleScan PE now supports system scan, read, write and register decoding features for the new M-PCIe(TM) specification released by the PCI-SIG(®) earlier this year. TeleScan PE is a freely available software utility used by PCI Express developers to better understand how their computer systems are configured with PCI Express devices.

"The M-PCIe specification combines the high-performance PCIe protocol with low-power MIPI M-PHY technology for mobile computing," said Scott Knowlton, Product Marketing Manager, Senior Staff, Synopsys, Inc. "Synopsys is working closely with development partners like Teledyne LeCroy to build a rich M-PCIe ecosystem. By using Synopsys' DesignWare® IP for M-PCIe with Teledyne LeCroy's Telescan PE utility, designers can analyze their M-PCIe configuration, boost their productivity and quickly bring their products to market."

TeleScan PE uses a highly descriptive graphical user interface that shows PCIe bus information in a tree-structured format, detailed with textual information and register diagrams from the specification. PCIe 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 and now M-PCIe based devices can be scanned with this utility to understand more about configurations and register settings. M-PCIe devices are automatically detected and information contained in the M-PCIe extended capabilities register (such M-PCIe current link speed or gears and M-PCIe max link width) are presented in the summary screen for quick review. Other configuration space registers can be both read and written in order to facilitate user designed tests. The utility will support scanning on host machines using Microsoft Windows(®) 7 or Windows 8, and also on Linux systems.

"We are pleased to see Teledyne LeCroy support early developers of the M-PCIe technology," said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG Chairman and President. "Products such as this are an important indicator of industry support for this new technology, giving users a new tool to help validate their M-PCIe implementations."

"Teledyne LeCroy has been committed to supporting tools for PCI Express-based computing applications. M-PCIe is an exciting new direction for low power devices utilizing PCI Express," said John Wiedemeier, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Teledyne LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group. "Providing M-PCIe register decoding in TeleScan PE will help our customers identify configuration issues and quickly correct errors that would otherwise cost precious time."

Teledyne LeCroy's protocol analyzers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development. All Teledyne LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical traffic display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting and the ability to create user-defined test reports, all of which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
