Press release date: September 3, 2010

Billerica, Massachusetts (September 3, 2010) Broadcast Pix(TM) announced today that Ted Whittaker, 80, a co-founder of the company, recently died suddenly. He spent more than 50 years in the television industry, where he also co-founded switcher producer Echolab.

Whittaker served in the U.S Army in radio communications and was awarded three bronze stars in the Korean War. He was a radio technician for United Airlines and for WERS-FM at Emerson College. He made the transition to television at WTAO (now WLVI), Boston's first UHF station. He then went into sales for Videonix and Shintron. In 1972, he co-founded Echolab, where he was its Sales Manager and President. In 2002, he co-founded Broadcast Pix. He retired in 2005, but continued to serve as a member of its Board of Directors.

According to Broadcast Pix Senior Vice President Russell Whittaker, who is Ted's son, "Ted felt lucky to have the chance to help found Broadcast Pix. He was very proud of the way its staff worked together to make the company what it is today. Building something of value and treating everyone: customer, co-worker, even competitors, respectfully is the best way to memorialize him."

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the First Congregational Church in Rockport, MA on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at 11 a.m.
