Aria Analytics to commercialize an acoustic mechanical impedance (AMI) device developed at the Russian Institute of Applied Physics in Nizhny Novgorod
CLEVELAND, OHIO - Aria Analytics, a startup company commercializing an acoustic mechanical impedance (AMI) device, recently joined CAMP's manufacturing and technology incubator. Aria adds its unique technology to over 20 tenant, client and graduate companies in CAMP's BUILD (Building Business Through Innovation, Learning and Doing) entrepreneurial assistance program.
The Aria device provides rapid characterization of complex liquids by drying a micro-sample of a liquid on an oscillating quartz crystal to obtain a unique and reproducible signature of that liquid. This device is faster, simpler and less expensive than those based on alternative technologies and has many medical and industrial uses as well as multiple applications for food, beverage and materials characterization industries. The AMI technology was developed at the Russian Institute of Applied Physics in Nizhny Novgorod. Patents to protect Aria's novel analytical methodology have been issued in Russia and in the United States.
Aria was launched earlier this year by 5iTech, LLC, another CAMP startup company based in Cleveland, Ohio. 5iTech, which launches Cleveland companies based on technologies developed by top scientists from the former Soviet Union, established Aria in partnership with a team of Russian researchers who developed this technology. Aria is led by Christina Vacca in collaboration with the Russian development team led by Dr. Tatiana Yakhno, Vice President of Research and Development for Aria and senior researcher at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Science in Nizhny Novgorod.
Most of the startup companies in the BUILD program, including Aria Analytics and 5iTech, are housed in CAMP's business incubator facility at the CAMP Manufacturing & Technology Complex at 1768 East 25th Street, Cleveland. The BUILD staff and its extensive network of resources help the tenant companies develop their business plans, create robust strategic sales and marketing plans, attract investment capital, hire qualified staff and expand their businesses in the supportive environment of the incubator - ultimately graduating to the "real world" as stand alone, productive businesses. CAMP recently added 20,000 square feet of new incubator space in the facility with the completed renovation of the third floor.
"Aria is fortunate to be located at CAMP. The facilities are excellent and we have access to resources that both support our daily business needs and allow us to focus on the strategic and practical aspects of the business. The Entrepreneur Roundtable talks bring subject experts to the companies here and challenge us to address the issues dealing with big picture activities for growth," said Christina Vacca, Chief Operating Officer, Aria Analytics.
"Aria is a great example of collaboration between the U. S. business expertise of 5i Tech and Chris Vacca coupled with the technical talent found in Russia. We expect significant growth for this business," said Wayne Zeman, CAMP's Vice President, Venture Development.
