Press release date: October 20, 2009

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2009) - Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces the most complete line of Tamper-Resistant Receptacle Combination devices to protect young children from electrical hazards. Meeting 2008 National Electrical CodeŽ (NEC) tamper-resistant requirements, the combination devices expand what is already a broad offering of Tamper-Resistant Receptacles for residential and commercial applications.

A Tamper-Resistant Receptacle works like any electrical outlet, except it has a built-in shutter system that prevents children from inserting metal objects into the slots. The shutters obstruct objects from touching electrically live components, but plugs can be inserted and removed as usual.

The Tamper-Resistant Combination devices join a family of products that offer solutions for every home location and purpose, to allow for more functionality in an existing electrical box without breaking sheet rock. A full range of models combine receptacles with switches and LED nightlights. GFCI receptacles are also available in these combinations. The devices come in 15A and 20A versions.

"The Tamper-Resistant combination devices are designed to give users multiple functions in a single product solution," said Tom Roy, residential product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour. "By offering the broadest range of Tamper-Resistant products on the market, we've combined proven safety technology with optimal convenience." Over 30 states and municipalities have adopted the new Tamper-Resistant Code requirements, and more are be expected to adopt them by the end of 2009.
