SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 19 -- Takumi Technology Corporation, a leader in providing DFM system solutions for sub-wavelength process nodes, today announced it is collaborating with Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHRT)(NASDAQ:and)(NASDAQ:SGX-ST:)(NASDAQ:Chartered), one of the world's top dedicated foundries. The companies are working together to validate Takumi's design-for-manufacturing (DFM) optimization software, Takumi Enhance, on Chartered's 65-nanometer (nm) process implementation of Common Platform technology.
Takumi Enhance is an automatic layout optimization software designed to improve performance and silicon yield. The software utilizes manufacturing data to analyze and detect hot spots. Patterns tested on wafers manufactured using 65nm process technology from Chartered showed opportunities for gate CD variation improvement and enhanced detection of lithography-related violations.
"Chartered is encouraged by our early, collaborative results with Takumi, and its potential direct benefit to customers from improved variation control to reduced violations, helping them to better meet their time-to-market windows," said Mr. Henry Law, vice president of the design services division at Chartered. "As Chartered and Takumi move toward customer engagements at 65nm, we are also proceeding with qualification at 45nm."
