TRFA Announces 2013 Annual Meeting Chair

Glen Ellyn, IL – The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) has announced that Sean Crow, Lintech International LLC, will serve as chair of its 2013 Annual Meeting set for September 29-October 1 at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. Registration is now open via the association's website at www.trfa.org.

Once again, industry leaders have developed a compact but rewarding two-day schedule for the association’s annual event, including a full schedule of Technical Papers, a Regulatory Affairs Update, the annual Table Top Showcase, meetings of TRFA's Market Focused Committees, the association's Annual Business Meeting, the presentation of the annual Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award, and a Global Economic Update.

TRFA's Technical Paper presentations are essential to achieving one of the association's key objectives, which is to be "the premier forum to interact and exchange knowledge among formulators and suppliers." The 2013 meeting schedule will include presentations from each of TRFA's Market Focused Committees: Adhesives and Sealants; Coatings, Civil Engineering and Floorings; Composites and Tooling; and Potting, Encapsulation and Electrical.

TRFA's Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award was established in 2010 to encourage and recognize advances in the science & engineering of the thermoset polymer industry.  Entries are submitted in the form of research papers, in the traditional scientific journal format. Eligible candidates are students who are candidates for BS, MS & PhDs at an accredited college/university in the USA and Canada whose research topics are related to Thermoset Polymer Science & Technology. In addition to a $500 cash award and an award plaque, the winner is invited to present the paper at the TRFA annual meeting with complimentary registration,  two-night's accommodation for the winning student at the TRFA meeting's hotel/venue and an additional travel allowance of up to $500, and posting of the winning paper on TRFA's website.

In addition to the traditional technical paper presentations, TRFA's Table Top Showcase offers participating suppliers a great opportunity to showcase their products to the largest forum of thermoset resin formulators in North America.  TRFA Annual Meetings attendees also benefit from a number of networking opportunities throughout the schedule, including two receptions.  Complete meeting information and registration, hotel reservation information and important travel particulars for Canada are all available on the TRFA website, www.trfa.org.

Annual Meeting attendees may also register for TRFA's Additives 101 Short Course on September 29.  The short course will provide an introduction and overview of the various types of additives used in the creation of thermosets including their chemistry, why they work in a thermoset, applications and troubleshooting. Topics will be presented by some of the top experts in the thermoset industry. The course is intended for technical and sales/marketing professionals new to the industry, as well as those seeking a refresher. A basic chemistry background will be assumed - no other advanced knowledge is required.

TRFA is comprised of thermoset formulators, raw material suppliers, distributors, equipment manufacturers, manufacturer sales representatives of materials or equipment, importers of raw materials or processing or other equipment, consulting firms and academic institutions serving industries which include adhesives, coatings, civil engineering applications, electrical laminates, composites, tooling, castings and moldings.
