TRFA Annual Meeting Increases Attendance by 14%



Glen Ellyn, IL—The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) began its second decade with a 14% jump in meeting attendance when it called its 2013 Annual Meeting to order on September 30th in Newport, Rhode Island. This breaks the previous attendance record for 2012’s 10th Anniversary event.  On the day before the Annual Meeting opened, TRFA presented the one-day Additives 101 Short Course to 52 participants, reflecting a more than 10% increase over enrollment in the 2012 Short Course. 



The 2013 Annual Meeting featured a timely keynote address by Dr. Dean Webster on "Improving the Sustainability of Thermosets Using Renewables," as well as the presentation of 11 technical papers focused on the latest products and advanced techniques. In another meeting highlight, the winner of TRFA’s 2013 Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award, Qi An of the University of Delaware, presented her paper, “Epoxy-Based Carbon Nanotube/Fiber Hybrid Composites:  Nanoscale Hybridization via Electrophoresis” via Skype.



In addition to those headline events, the TRFA 2013 Annual Meeting also included a Regulatory Affairs update, Global Market update, a presentation by the runner-up in the Annual Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research competition, the opportunity to meet with the most important suppliers in the thermoset industry during the Tabletop Showcase on September 30th and unparalleled networking with  industry peers.  TRFA’s Additives 101 Short Course offered excellent training for training new employees or served as a refresher for experienced personnel.
