TPI Composites Adds Former FERC Chairman to Board of Directors

Pat Wood, III brings Wealth of Experience to Wind Energy Company

Scottsdale, Ariz. (January 29, 2009) - TPI Composites Inc. announces that Pat Wood, III will join its Board of Directors. Wood, an energy infrastructure developer based in Houston, Texas, is a national leader on clean energy and power transmission. He recently served for four years as Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the independent regulator of the nation's interstate pipeline and wholesale electric power industries.

"Pat's experience in the energy industry is extensive and unique. We look forward to drawing on his expertise as TPI continues its growth in the wind energy market," said TPI CEO Steven C. Lockard. "In addition, his many years of board involvement with various high growth energy companies will help guide TPI as our country strives for energy independence and positive climate change impact."
During his tenure at FERC, Wood advanced the nation's development of a cleaner, more competitive power generation fleet and a more robust power transmission grid. In addition, Wood chaired the Public Utility Commission of Texas and led successful efforts to introduce competitive retail and wholesale power markets. The restructured Texas electric market is considered to be the most competitive energy market in the country and has attracted more than 8,000 megawatts in new wind investment since 1999.

Currently, Wood is leading an effort with Sharyland Utilities to build power transmission in the Texas Panhandle to attach new wind, gas and coal generation. He also serves as a strategic advisor to private equity firm NGP Energy Capital Management, and is an independent director of four energy infrastructure companies: SunPower, Quanta Services, Xtreme Power Solutions and Range Fuels. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council and serves on the Board of the American Council on Renewable Energy.

"I'm pleased to be joining the TPI team as the nation increases its focus on renewable energy sources," said Wood. "I look forward to working with them as the demand for wind energy becomes increasingly prevalent."

Wood holds a civil engineering degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He and his wife, Kathleen, have four sons.
