Single Platform Supports Creation of Infrastructure Applications; Ensures Seamless Delivery of Solutions in Distributed and Heterogeneous Environments

SAN FRANCISCO, May 1 - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX) today announced its TIBCO ONE(TM) Project at the company's third annual user conference - TUCON 07, which kicked off yesterday and runs through May 3 in San Francisco, Calif. The TIBCO ONE Project ushers in a new focus on user experience for the creation and delivery of infrastructure applications across distributed and heterogeneous IT environments. These applications will leverage and extend the best of service-oriented architecture (SOA), business process management (BPM) and event driven architecture-based applications.

Over the years, enterprises have accumulated a host of functional applications such as enterprise resource planning and sales force automation. Next-generation applications must cross functional boundaries and are now being built on top of these existing investments in a more flexible and reusable manner. The TIBCO ONE Project affords organizations the ability to "build-your-own" infrastructure applications, which is the next logical extension to leveraging and extending the various resources, products and services that span the enterprise today.

According to Gartner, "The combination of product evolution and convergence has resulted in overlapping capabilities in what were considered separate product categories. The distinction between development tools and runtime middleware has also blurred. It is, therefore, appropriate to recognize the emergence of a new category of software, which we call "application infrastructure." Application infrastructure includes the majority of runtime middleware, as well as application development and management tools that support the new generation of applications, based on service-oriented architecture (SOA), event-driven architecture (EDA) and business process management (BPM) technology."(1)

TIBCO Business Studio 2.0 (see related announcement) is the first in a series of products that will be released under the TIBCO ONE Project in the coming year. It is a standards-based modeling environment that enables seamless collaboration between business and IT users. TIBCO Business Studio will provide a single design environment for all TIBCO products and for building infrastructure applications. Additional key product releases around the TIBCO ONE Project include a new version of TIBCO ActiveMatrix(TM), a platform for consistent development, deployment, management and governance of these applications; and a new release of TIBCO BusinessWorks(TM), both expected for release in the 2nd half of 2007.

"TIBCO ONE is a logical extension to last year's release of ActiveMatrix," said Matt Quinn, vice president of Product Strategy, TIBCO. "It will provide a common container for TIBCO products, an expanding set of programming languages including Java and .NET, and additional engines customers can build using TIBCO's development kit - all while providing consistent design, management, governance, and security across the platform."
