W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Papers are invited for the Third International Symposium on Tribo-Corrosion, to be held April 19-20, 2012, at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion and the members of the Tribo-Corrosion Network, the symposium will be held in conjunction with Committee G02's April standards development meetings.

This symposium will highlight research, new insights and engineering progress in two related, multi-disciplinary fields: tribology (friction, lubrication and wear) and corrosion science of life prediction methods and software. We seek researchers whose studies are advancing fundamental understanding, developing new experimental techniques, and solving triboİcorrosion challenges across a broad spectrum of applications. These range from bioimplants and industrial processes to petroleum exploration and parts of internal combustion engines.

To participate in the symposium, presenters/authors must submit and attach a 150-300 word preliminary abstract no later than Oct. 1, 2011. Abstracts for poster contributions are also invited. Poster abstracts must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2012. Please submit your abstract to Peter J. Blau, Ph.D., Co-Chair, Tribo-Corrosion 2012, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, P.O. Box 2008 (M/S 6063), Oak Ridge, TN 37831-6063, USA, or via email at blaupj@ornl.gov).

For abstract submittal and other related information, visit www.astm.org/G02SympTribo.htm.

Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Selected Technical Paper (STP), an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community. After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will send authors' instructions via email only. Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for the STP are due no later than May 4, 2012.

Additional information is available from symposium chairman Peter J. Blau, Ph.D., Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tenn. (phone: 865-574-5377; blaupj@ornl.gov).
