"Symbol customers are turning to wireless wide area network (WAN) to get more out of their enterprise mobility solutions and to have access to mission-critical data outside 'the four walls' of their enterprise," said Sandy Preizler, Symbol Technologies' vice president of worldwide channels. "As the first enterprise vendor to have an activation program with all major U.S. wireless carriers, Symbol's Carrier Advantage Program presents an exciting solution for our PartnerSelect members to tap into the growing WAN market and increase customer satisfaction."

Symbol's Carrier Advantage Program also helps wireless carriers expand their business deeper into new vertical markets, including field service and sales, government and public safety, healthcare, and transportation and logistics. With WAN connectivity, mobile users can capture and share mission-critical data in the field, and update back-end systems in real-time.

To date, Symbol PartnerSelect members and sales teams have connected more than 140,000 devices on U.S. wireless carrier networks. Symbol's MC70, the first rugged Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA), is available for the Cingular network. The MC9000 series of rugged mobile computers with WAN connectivity currently include: the MC9094 for the Cingular network; the MC9097, the first rugged mobile computer for the Sprint/Nextel iDEN network; and the MC9063 for Verizon and Sprint's network.
