Sulzer Metco Presents the Most Comprehensive Surface Enhancing Technologies at MRO Americas

Sulzer Metco is pleased to be a part of the 19th Annual MRO Americas Conference & Exhibition. The conference will take place in Phoenix, AZ on April 8 – 10, 2014, which will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center. MRO Americas is the premier event gathering airlines, MROs, suppliers, OEMs, regulators and industry experts who influence the aviation maintenance industry and lead the latest developments and business growth. This year's key focus is on the future of aviation MRO in the civilian and military sectors.

At Sulzer Metco's booth #1528, conference attendees will have access to the newest innovations in coating application technologies. As a leading supplier for the maintenance, repair and overhaul industry, Sulzer Metco offers the most OEM materials approvals in the thermal spray business, used on both MRO and new/replacement components.

A highlight at the exhibit includes cascading arc technology capable of delivering up to 400% efficiency gain compared to the conventional plasma spray process. The portfolio's ample choices feature the TriplexPro, triple-cathode gun for maximum benefits. Also, the recently launched SinplexPro single cathode gun offering excellent results with minimal investment cost, and which easily retrofits into the applicator's existing plasma spray system. Cascading arc technology is the most efficient plasma spray process because the plasma arc is independent of the gas type and flow, resulting in a more homogeneous heating of the plasma particles. As a result, applicators benefit by substantially higher spray rates, improved deposit efficiencies and far better run-to-run reproducibility that reduce processing time and costs without compromising coating quality.

Other highlights at Sulzer Metco's exhibit are advanced coating solutions such as their broad portfolio of abradable clearance control materials used throughout aircraft power plants. In addition, MCrAlY powders designed for the power plant hot section applications prevent oxidation and sulfidation and are applicable as either standalone anti-corrosion coatings, or as bond coats to improve the performance of Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) systems or ceramic abradable coating systems. Also available are the braze products which include filler metals engineered to meet the highest temperature braze processing needs. Airframe solutions, such as HVOF-applied solutions for landing gears, process faster than and improve service over hard chromium plating.

Overall, Sulzer Metco will demonstrate to MRO attendees how to improve productivity, specifically how its maintenance, repair and overhaul surface solutions can reduce maintenance costs and processing time.
