Students Win as Fluke Presents Five Schools with Grants of Industrial Process Test Gear


Tool kits destined for classroom use

EVERETT, Wash. - Fluke Corporation, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, today announced the five winning schools in the $73,000 Fluke Industrial Control Grant Program.

Each school will receive a $14,500 kit of 12 Fluke test tools, for use teaching students to diagnose and repair sophisticated industrial process control systems. Each kit includes three Fluke 719 Pressure Calibrators, three Fluke 773 Milliamp Process Clamp Meters, three award-winning Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeters with TrendCapture and three Fluke 381 Remote Display True-RMS AC/DC Clamp Meters with iFlex(TM).

A large number of institutions applied for the grants. The winning institutions are:

o Greenville Technical College, Greenville, S.C. - The school's associate degree programs in Industrial Maintenance and Mechatronics include 19 technical courses.

o Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, N.Y. - Hudson Valley conferred 81 associates degrees in Electrical Construction and Maintenance and three in Plant Utilities Technology.

o Montana Electrical JATC, Helena, Mont. -- Teaches apprentice and journeyman-level courses to students from across Montana, including some specific to oil refinery processes.

o Oregon Institute of Technology, Portland, Ore. -- OIT founded the first renewable energy engineering (REE) baccalaureate program in the United States.

o Sandersville Technical College, Sandersville, Ga. -- Sandersville conferred 86 diplomas and certificates in technology subjects during FY 2010, and anticipates further growth.

The Fluke award committee judged applications based on these factors:

o Instructional program content

o Program impact (numbers of students and certificates or degrees conferred)

o Program quality (accreditation)

o How test tools will be incorporated into the teaching program

o Willingness to provide feedback and comments on their experience with the products

All non-winning schools participating in this years grant will receive five Fluke 1AC-II VoltAlerts(TM).
