Steve Morris Teaches Aircraft Icing Course

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - - 11/11/2009 - - Steven L. Morris, Ph.D., P.E., aeronautical/mechanical engineer and Senior Consultant at Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI) recently taught a University of Kansas short course, "Aircraft Icing: Meteorology, Protective Systems, Instrumentation, and Certification" in San Diego, CA. Attendees included personnel from NASA, FAA, the US Army, and industry, as well as a number of international attendees.

The course, which covers meteorology and physics of aircraft icing, forecasting, finding and avoiding icing conditions, and designing and evaluating ice protection systems, is designed for aerospace engineers, flight test and design engineers, test and line pilots, meteorologists, and program managers. He will teach the same course November 30-December 3, 2009, as an on-site course to the US Navy at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, MD.

Dr. Morris has over 30 years experience in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, including theoretical, computational, and experimental investigations. He served over 24 years as an officer in the US Air Force, where his duties included teaching and directing a wide variety of courses in aeronautics and engineering design at the US Air Force Academy. He specializes in aircraft design, flight dynamics and simulation, radar data analysis, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, aircraft icing, and space-based navigational systems. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in two states.
