Stamping - Technology Process

Over 35 years ago, Weiss-Aug started as a stamping company, focusing on complex, high precision high speed stamping. Today through use of innovative lean manufacturing techniques, expansive engineered processes, and a strict adherence to the highest quality and safety standards, our stamping operation has successfully produced recent multi year PPM ratings of less than 1.

Our stamping philosophies have also earned us high supplier ratings with both automotive and medical customers, and continuous positive auditing scores from yearly ISO 9001:2000 and TS 16949 audits.

Metal stamping

The definition of metal stamping is the use of dies and punches to form and shape a metal alloy sheet into a pre-defined shape. These complex tools use multiple techniques to create intricate parts.

Our tools are designed to be progressive. Each stroke creates a different type of blank, form, coin, shear, cut-off, etc . . . to accomplish a finished part in one tool. Progression eliminates the need to transfer the part to a secondary tool.

Process Highlights

o Capabilities to process materials from .002 to .063

o High speed Bruderer presses ranging from 20 to 90 tons

o Speeds up to 6400 parts per minute, or up to 4 parts per progression

o Otto, PPT and Cognex inline vision systems

Visions systems help achieve 100% defect free parts. Vision systems can also detect trends and automatically shut off the press when an out of specification part is present.

o Inline degreasing Aqueous systems using advanced ultrasonic's and custom designed dryers can remove cutting oils if required by customers.

o EFD micro coat oiling systems

o Automated take ups including horizontal Noxon and PA palletizer

Automated equipment allows for continuous operation of presses between lots. This increases efficiency and minimizes tooling damage.

o Automated tote changers for loose pieces

o Uncoiler horizontal payout systems

o Computerized Mattec scheduling allows for live production data

o Smartpac Wintriss press automation controller on each press for sensing, and setup programs

o Preventive maintenance - close relationship in-between quality, die repair and production
