ASTM approves specification for constant air inflatable devices.

Specification for Constant Air Inflatable Devices Approved by ASTM Consumer Products Committee



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., —ASTM International Committee F15 on Consumer Products has approved ASTM F2729, Consumer Safety Specification for Constant Air Inflatable Play Devices for Home Use. The new standard was developed by Subcommittee F15.61 on Constant Air Inflatable Play Devices for Home Use, under the jurisdiction of F15.



According to David Dick, senior technical engineer, technical services, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, and chairman of F15.61, users of ASTM F2729 will include manufacturers of constant air inflatables, retailers that sell such products and testing laboratories. The specification covers various types of constant air play devices intended for use at home by children ages 2-12.



In addition to detailed general requirements, the new standard covers areas such as calibration, marking/labeling and instructional literature. It is suggested in the standard that products include a label identifying conformance to ASTM F2729.



Interested parties are invited to join F15.61 in its ongoing development of ASTM F2729 and other proposed standards for constant air inflatable play devices.
