Fire-Rescue International exhibit highlights customized performance; safety

CHARLOTTE, Mich., Aug. 27 - Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR), will showcase its cutting-edge line of 2010 emergency-response cabs and chassis as the Fire-Rescue International (FRI) Conference and Exhibition gets underway in Chicago.

Headlining in the Spartan exhibit, booth #3421, will be the spacious Gladiator® Classic integrated with industry leading engine performance--a 600 horsepower 2010 Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") certified Cummins ISX diesel engine. The Charlotte, Mich.-based manufacturer received ISX installation approval from Cummins earlier this week.

"Spartan had previously announced approval of Cummins 2010 EPA certified ISC and ISL diesel engines earlier this month," said John Sztykiel, president and CEO of Spartan Motors. "Garnering approval of the powerful 2010 ISX diesel engine allows us to satisfy the wide range of performance needs and expectations we receive every day from our customers around the world."

The Gladiator will be accompanied in the Spartan exhibit by the Metro Star® and Furion® models. The modernized line-up features redesigned cooling systems and multiple exhaust configurations, as well as customer-requested innovations such as horizontal wipers and 24" exterior grab handles.

"Innovation has been at the heart of the Spartan business model for more than 30 years," Sztykiel added. "The drive to take a customer's idea from concept to production to satisfy their need is what makes that business model work. The dedication of our customers to the communities they serve will not allow them to settle for conventional vehicles. They are truly the driving force behind our success."

Spartan's innovative emergency response products, complete with apparatus, will be on display during the show, August 27-28, with several of Spartan's OEM partners, including: Braun (#2478), Crimson Fire (#3411), Marion (#3479), SVI (#4049), Smeal (#2842) and Rosenbauer America (#5049).
