"Introduction to Amine Technology"

By Carlos Frey, P.E., Hydrocarbon Treating Team, Huntsman Corporation

In depth description of Amine technology to remove acid components, CO2 and H2S, from natural gas, refinery gases or liquid hydrocarbon streams. Basic principles of amine removal of H2S and CO2 are essential when looking at these systems from a contamination control perspective. Brief overview will also be included about Huntsman Corporation, its capabilities in addition to a description of the various lines of amine solvents available.

About the Speaker:

Carlos is a Staff Engineer performing technical support and business development for Huntsman's Hydrocarbon Treating Team. He has 30+ years of experience in gas processing, sulfur recovery and amine treating.

"X-Ray Analysis of Solid Samples"

By John Hadjioannou, P.E., Director of EPI Materials Testing Group, LLC

Analysis of solids samples is an important component in understanding contamination in liquid and gas streams. For the analysis on inorganic and metal elements, one of the more common techniques used is X-Ray. It is then important to understand the basic concepts on X-ray analysis and how these concepts translate into the analysis of solids samples.

About the Speaker:

John serves as an engineering consultant to a variety of industries performing design verification and failure analysis. In these projects, a number of different analytical techniques are utilized to determine quality of material, potential causes and correct identification of materials, particulate, scales and corrosion products. John has firsthand experience with the analytical techniques used, which allows for the correct tests to be selected even when minute amounts of material are present.
