Sonoco Names Bell Staff Vice President, Internal Audit


Hartsville, S.C. - Sonoco, one of the largest diversified global packaging companies, today announced that Gloria M. Bell has been named staff vice president, internal audit, according to Charles J. Hupfer, senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Bell is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Company's internal audit department including assessing compliance of internal controls under Sarbane-Oxley Section 404, testing of all information technology systems and working with the Company's independent auditors. She reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Company's Board of Directors and Hupfer.

A native of McBee, S.C., Bell graduated with B.S. degree in business administration from Coker College in 1974. After working as a senior accountant with Price Waterhouse, Bell joined Sonoco in 1978 and held management positions in Company's general accounting and public reporting function and as director of finance and administration for the Company's Protective Packaging division. Prior to this new assignment, she was director of internal audit. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
