WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania - Sonobond Ultrasonics announced today that it has produced a short video about its unique ultrasonic metal welder, the Dual Head SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer. This video can be seen on the company's website at http://www.sonobondultrasonic.com/welders-bondersmetals.asp?sID=dualHeadSpliceRite
Sonobond Vice President, Melissa Alleman, who is the presenter on the video, said, "We thought it was important to give visitors to our website an opportunity to learn more about our newest ultrasonic wire splicer. So we recorded this 2 ½-minute presentation while exhibiting the Dual Head SpliceRite at the 2012 National Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo in Milwaukee. The video demonstrates how quickly and easily this machine produces a quality weld. It also Page 2 - Dual Head SpliceRite(TM) Video provides website visitors with a brief-but informative-overview of the important advantages of ultrasonic metal welding in general, as well as the superior performance they'll get from this particular piece of Sonobond equipment."
Large Wire Bundles Accommodated with a Single Hit
In detailing the specific capabilities of the Dual Head SpliceRite, Vice President Alleman says, "This machine is the only ultrasonic metal splicer on the market today that has an upper and lower welding head. Both the tip and the anvil are ultrasonically activated. As a result of these Sonobond innovations, the Dual Head SpliceRite can accommodate large wire bundles in one quick step. In fact, this ultrasonic welder reliably handles stranded wire copper wire bundles with cross-sections of 48 to 100 square millimeters. It can also accommodate lightly tinned or oxidized wires up to 60 square millimeters without pre-cleaning."
Ms. Alleman goes on to say, "It's important to note that the welds are accomplished using a single pulse. No other ultrasonic metal welder is capable of doing this with just one hit. As a result, Sonobond's Dual Head SpliceRite is ideal for assembling the heavy-duty cables used for trucks, cars, trains, industrial machinery, and similar applications."
Exclusive Wedge-Reed System for Superior Bonding
The Dual Head SpliceRite uses Sonobond's exclusive, patented Wedge-Reed bonding system of high vibratory force and low amplitude coupling. Sheer mode vibration, parallel to the welding surface, is utilized while the line of force is directly over the parts to be welded. This produces precise, dependable welds without bending stress or stalling. Sonobond's metal welding technology creates fast, consistent, solidPage state metallurgical bonds with high conductivity and the lowest possible voltage drop. This is accomplished without arcs, sparks, or fumes, and without melting the weldment. No filler materials are used.
Tips Easily Replaced Without Recalibration
The Dual Head SpliceRite Ultrasonic Wire Splicer features tool-steel Taper Lock Tips that provide fool-proof placement and can last up to 100,000 welds. When the tips eventually do have to be replaced, this can be done quickly and easily for just a few hundred dollars.
Because Sonobond tips are non-acoustic, they need no recalibration. Other makes of ultrasonic metal welders don't have this advantage. Instead, the entire horn with its tooling must be replaced and recalibrated-requiring the expenditure of additional time, money, and labor. Another important feature of the Sonobond machine is the microprocessor controller that stores and recalls 250 jobs. Welds can be controlled by height, energy, or time.
All of Sonobond's ultrasonic metal welders, including the Dual Head SpliceRite, are environmentally-friendly and manufactured in the United States. Ms. Alleman says, "We're proud and pleased that our ultrasonic metal welders are produced by American workmen who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance. In addition, Sonobond ultrasonic welders are easy to operate and require only minimal training."
Over a Half-Century of Industry Leadership
Sonobond Ultrasonics is a well-established leader in the field of ultrasonic technology. In 1960, Sonobond-then known as Aeroprojects-received the first patent ever awarded for ultrasonic metal welding. Over the intervening 52 years, the company has continued to enjoy a well-earned reputation for its innovative, quality-engineered products. Sonobond currently manufactures a complete line of ultrasonic welding and bonding equipment for firms in the automotive, appliance, solar, electrical, filtration, aerospace, medical, body armor, and apparel industries.
Sonobond Offers a Free Ultrasonic Welding Viability Test
Sonobond provides a free Ultrasonic Welding Viability Test. This is a no-cost, no-obligation way to determine which machine is the correct one for the specific application. To take advantage of this offer, companies submit their materials so that sample welds can be made. Once a manufacturer decides to introduce Sonobond equipment into its production process, every effort is made to assure this is accomplished as seamlessly as possible. Sonobond personnel are committed to providing outstanding customer service and the very finest technical support before, during, and after installation.
