Press release date: November 1, 2006

Aston, PA, November 2006 -- Amacoil technical salespeople now use the UH5 software program from Uhing Company to quickly analyze linear motion application requirements and assure selection of the correct size Uhing rolling ring drive. Application data may be submitted by telephone or using forms on the Amacoil web site. The program rapidly determines side thrust requirements, selects the correct size Uhing linear drive and provides other useful technical specifications and diagrams.

Uhing linear drive selection is based on specific application requirements such as travel distance, desired linear speed, weight of payload to be moved and estimated resistance to movement (pounds force). After input of all parameters, the software program outputs drive selection data including linear drive size (model number), shaft rotational speed (RPMs), drive power/torque requirements, system life expectancy and shaft sag. Fourier transformation analysis, which shows the drive displacement versus distance traveled at a constant speed, and other complex drive selection criteria are calculated in seconds. The program also generates dynamic simulation charts showing shaft deflection off the center line in relation to shaft rotation speed.

Uhing rolling ring drives are used to provide linear motion in production machinery for processes such as positioning, scanning, cutting, measuring, winding and spraying. Applications exist in a variety of automated manufacturing industries including textile, automotive, metrology and CNC machining. Uhing linear motion assemblies feature zero backlash and a jam-proof design. Amacoil is Uhing's distributor for North America.
