New Position Emphasizes Snap-on Tools' Commitment to Franchisees

KENOSHA, Wis. (May 11, 2006) - Snap-on Tools Company has announced that Tom Ward has been named to the new position of president, sales and franchising for the company. Ward will continue as vice president, Snap-on Incorporated.

In his new role, Ward will help lead the execution of the company's strategies to further enhance the franchise business and increase Snap-on Tools' support of its franchisees. He will work closely with the field sales organization to ensure the success of the company's franchisees.

Ward joined Snap-on in 1996 as vice president of underhood sales. He was then named vice president of national accounts in 1998, and vice president of Snap-on Diagnostics in 2000. He became president of the worldwide Snap-on Diagnostics organization in 2001. In March of 2005, he was promoted to vice president - Snap-on Incorporated and president - Diagnostics and Information Group where he led a very strong team and drove a culture of innovation that resulted in a series of award-winning products.

Ward holds an MBA from The Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
