Sme Motorsports Indianapolis Conference & Exposition Features Cutting Edge Manufacturing Technology

DEARBORN, Mich., June 20, 2006 --The Society of Manufacturing Engineers
(SME) recently changed the name of its Manufacturing for Performance event
to SME Motorsports Indianapolis, in order to better reflect the event's
concentration on the motorsports manufacturing community. The SME
Motorsports Indianapolis Conference and Exposition will take place January 25-
27 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. This will be the first of
two SME Motorsports events in 2007 with second taking place in Charlotte
October 2-4, 2007.

SME Motorsports Indianapolis will provide Conference content and Exposition
demonstrations on manufacturing innovations for the motorsports industry.
Important industry trends and new manufacturing opportunities will be
covered in areas such as machine tools, rapid prototyping, ethanol
production, carbon composites manufacturing, and safety innovations such as
the SAFER barrier, the HANS Device, and tire manufacturing technology. In
addition, industry experts will keynote the event and educational sessions on
how to develop a career in motorsports will be offered.

SME is consulting with Indianapolis-based motorsports entities such as The
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indy Racing League (IRL), Champ Car and
United States Auto Club (USAC) to develop an event that offers leading edge
manufacturing technologies for the motorsports industry. Already, SME
Motorsports has appeared as the primary sponsor on Mishael Abbott's
Crawford Motorsports #8 Indy Racing League Indy Pro Series racer in the
Freedom 100 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in promotion of SME
Motorsports Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway annually hosts the largest attended events
for the IRL, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and
Formula One. The Indianapolis 500 (IRL) is the largest single day sporting
event in the world with race day attendance of 425,000 people. The
Brickyard 400 is by far NASCAR's largest attended race with a crowd of
285,000 people. The United States Grand Prix is Formula One's largest
attended race with a crowd of 125,000 people. In addition the National Hot
Rod Association (NHRA) annually has its signature event, the U.S. Nationals
at Indianapolis Raceway Park. With all of these large racing events located in
Indianapolis many motorsports teams have elected to call the city their home,
making Indianapolis an ideal locale to demonstrate manufacturing technologies
that are relevant to the motorsports industry.
