Enhanced SiliconDrive Technology Platform Provides the Industry's Highest Compatibility and Reliability for Future Host System Designs

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., June 18 -- SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, today announced the next-generation of its industry-leading SiliconDrive technology platform. The new SiliconDrive platform is designed to overcome storage system reliability and compatibility issues associated with faster host system interfaces and shrinking storage component process geometries to deliver the high performance, high reliability and multi-year product lifecycle storage systems required by OEMs. Future SiliconSystems' SiliconDrive product families will be based on this next-generation technology platform and will feature enhanced protection from host system voltage and power anomalies to prevent data and drive corruption, a more precise storage system useable-life monitoring system to compensate for lower endurance storage components, and a robust storage management architecture to ensure long product life.

Advancements in embedded systems applications typically follow operating system and chip-set trends in the personal computer and broader computing markets. Because of this trend, future host system designs are migrating to faster Serial ATA, USB and UDMA storage system interfaces. According to Alan Niebel, CEO of Web-Feet Research, "OEMs are beginning to face a number of challenges as next-generation host system interfaces and smaller storage component process geometries find their way into embedded systems. As a result, there definitely is a need right now for a solid-state storage platform that provides a viable solution to endurance, low voltage and other storage management issues presented by these changes." SiliconSystems' next-generation SiliconDrive storage products feature advanced versions of the company's patented PowerArmor and patent-pending SiSMART technologies, and its industry-leading ECC, wear-leveling and storage management technologies.

"SiliconSystems is very proud of its history of developing industry-leading advanced storage technology and today's announcement is the culmination of years of R&D effort to tackle the challenging issues facing our OEM customers as they migrate to next-generation host system designs," said Michael Hajeck, CEO at SiliconSystems. "The news is not that SiliconSystems is announcing storage systems with the latest industry-standard interfaces; the company could have made that announcement months ago. What is significant, is that the company's next-generation SiliconDrive products integrate powerful advanced storage technologies to ensure SiliconSystems exceeds the exacting performance, reliability and lifecycle demands of its global OEM customer base."

SiliconSystems is actively developing and will soon introduce Serial ATA, USB and UDMA SiliconDrive product families based on its next-generation SiliconDrive technology platform.
