Press release date: August 26, 2011

August 26, 2011 - Sierra Monitor Corporation was recently honored to win an Award by the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime (formerly Defense Supply Center Columbus) as one of the government's best suppliers at the award ceremony held during the 2011 DLA Enterprise Supplier Conference and Exhibition, June 27-30, in Columbus, Ohio. This is the second year in a row in which Sierra Monitor has received this honored award.

Ms. Loree Calderon, Military Products Representative accepted the award from Army Brig. Gen. Darrell K. Williams, the DLA Land and Maritime Commanding General. This recognition means the firm has supplied a product the government can be confident in using. Firms that qualify as Automated Best Value System award winners have met the stringent quality and delivery requirements established by the Defense Logistics Agency.

The ABVS, a computerized system, collects a vendor's past performance data and translates it into a numeric score, ranging from zero to 100. Sierra Monitor Corporation supplies life safety gas detection systems to the United States government.

To be eligible, vendors must have shipped 50 or more contract line items for DLA Land and Maritime during a 12-month period. To qualify for a Gold Award, a contractor must have a perfect score of 100. A score of 99 to 99.99 earns a Silver Award, and 98 to 98.9 earns a Bronze Award.

DLA Land and Maritime, located in Columbus, Ohio, serves more than 145,000 military and civilian customers and 10,000 contractors as one of the largest suppliers of weapon systems parts in the world. Land and Maritime's workforce of about 3,000 purchases materiel, monitors inventory levels, maintains technical data, and assures quality conformance of spare parts. These spare parts vary from common items such as vehicle components and accessories, to complex mechanical and electronic repair parts for weapon systems.
