Siemens AG
Wittelsbacherplatz 2
Munich, D-80333
Germany

Press release date: April 1, 2012

Nuremberg, Germany. The Intersolar Europe will be drawing international trade visitors to Munich once again this year from June 13 -15. Siemens will be present at booth C3.330 in Hall C3 with a comprehensive portfolio and a selection of customized solutions for the generation of electrical energy from sunlight.

Visitors to the Siemens presentation in Hall C3 (booth C3.330) at this year's Intersolar Europe in Munich may look forward to a wealth of interesting information and exhibits from across different solar-related fields: Starting with the implementation of overall projects, through high-efficiency PV modules and inverters, industrial controls and monitoring devices to solutions for solar module manufacturers.

Trade fair highlights featured by the Siemens Industry Sector this year include new central inverter models with an exceptionally high efficiency factor. New, UL-certified models of the efficient Sinvert PVM string inverter series designed to be deployed in PV systems in North America will be on show in Munich. Visitors to the booth will also have the chance to find out more about how the latest changes to the low-voltage directive will impact on the industry, and what solutions are on offer to address these changes from the Siemens portfolio.

Solar module manufacturers visiting the Siemens booth will be able to find out about "Plant-Wide Integrated Solutions for Glass and Solar". This term defines a new approach for the integral planning of solutions, taking in automation, drive and instrumentation technology through to energy technology. As a partner to the solar industry of many years' standing, Siemens offers a comprehensive product portfolio backed by the complete spectrum of services required over the entire plant life cycle.

Siemens will also be showcasing a tracking control system for PV and CPV modules equipped with moveable base which precisely follows the sun's path, or also positions parabolic troughs ideally in alignment with the sun. By specifying the location and time, and also taking into account different influencing factors such as the time of year or weather, the system is able to correct the position of the modules or parabolic troughs continuously with the aid of an astronomic algorithm.

The Siemens Solar & Hydro Division will be exhibiting its portfolio as general contractor for the planning, supply, construction and commissioning of large-scale turn-key PV plants (both ground and roof mounted projects). The presentation will include Siemens' own planning and layout tool PVplant, which optimizes yield and costs in advance of the power plant construction stage. If the plant is already up and running, these factors can be monitored with the aid of monitoring software PVcontrol. Other highlights include innovative CPV (concentrated photovoltaics) systems, as well as solutions for hybrid power plants and power storage.

The Solar & Hydro Division will also be providing information on project development and financing. Rounding off the Siemens offering at the Intersolar will be a series of solar-related presentations delivered in the so called Expert Center inside the Siemens booth.

The Siemens Low and Medium Voltage Division will be showcasing its entire portfolio for commercial photovoltaic systems. The Sentron range of protection, switching, measuring and monitoring devices permits reliable, economical and standard-compliant construction and operation of photovoltaic systems of any size, as well as simplifying planning, installation and operating processes. The modular energy storage system Siestorage (Siemens Energy Storage) is designed for the reliable, sustainable supply of future energy requirements. This solution compensates for fluctuations in the production output of photovoltaic plants within just milliseconds, so providing the assurance of a stable energy supply.

Acting in the capacity of general contractor, Siemens installed six photovoltaic (PV) plants with a peak output totaling 31 megawatts (MWP) at the Les Mées solar park in Southern France.
