Siemens Expands Simogear Range of Geared Motors

• Next expansion stage of the Simogear range

• Expansion of torque range and performance range

• Certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres

At Hannover Messe 2013 the Siemens Drive Technologies Division will be presenting the next expansion stage of its Simogear range of geared motors. The torque range for helical, parallel shaft and bevel geared motors has been extended by rated gear unit torques up to 5 000 Nm and the performance range has been extended by power ratings up to 30 kW. The geared motors are now available in efficiency class IE2 and IE3.

For applications that demand a particularly high degree of precision when positioning, Siemens offers the gear units in a low-backlash version. Ductile iron housings can be supplied for harsh ambient conditions with high vibration and shock loads.

With immediate effect the Simogear gear units are certified in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.

The focus of the Simogear geared motor range is on general materials handling, in particular the automotive, logistics and food and beverage industries. The motors are also used in the chemical industry, in crane technology, in environmental and water technology as well as in metal production and in the mining industry.

Following the expansion of the Simogear geared motor range last year, the Siemens Drive Technologies Division now presents the next expansion stage of its Simogear

family.
