Sharpe Products, a provider of custom pipe and tube bending and fabricating services, has added a Tube Inspect S machine to its inspection technology. The Tube Inspect S is an optical tube measuring system that does high precision measurement of tubes. This process is done by placing a tube in a measuring optical cell where 16 high resolution cameras then measure the tube geometry in only a few seconds. The Tube Inspect can measure parts up to 4 feet in 1 step, plus or minus .1mm.
This technology is directly linked to the CNC bending machines and determines what the set-up and correction data needs to be. If corrections need to be made to the part, changes are directly transmitted to the CNC bending machine. When production changes to new models, new set-up procedures are no longer necessary, thus achieving flexibility in production. Other capabilities of the Tube Inspect S include reverse engineering and inspection of sample parts.
