Company Will Use the Software To Support Design Work in the Iron and Steel Industry
Beijing, China - 2006 Global Construction Summit - April 26, 2006 - Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced, at this gathering of more than 400 construction executives and government officials, that Shanghai Baosteel Engineering and Technology Company, Ltd. (BSEE) has chosen Bentley's DigitalPlant as its principal 3D plant design software.
BSEE provides state-of-the-art engineering and technology for parent company Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation, the largest iron and steel conglomerate in China. Its services include planning, research and development, plant design, equipment design, equipment manufacture, integration of equipment, technical assembly, general contracting, and technical advisory.
"We were looking for a 3D design solution that could help us reduce errors during the design process, increase the quality of our projects, and reduce costs during construction," said Mr. Hua Yue , IT manager of BSEE. "Bentley's Plant Space Equipment software, within the DigitalPlant solution, satisfies these requirements in the target projects."
"Bentley's focus on providing users with a high return on their software and information investments is in keeping with our own corporate goals," added Mr. Hua Yue, "as is its commitment to reducing waste in IT workflows through software interoperability. These strategic advantages will help us become an even more successful design organization, and increase our ability to secure more projects from Baosteel Group."
Said Mr. Sun Gang, territory executive, Greater China, Bentley Asia Operating Unit, "We are quite proud to welcome the BSEE organization to the Bentley user community. BSEE's reputation for providing quality, innovative engineering and technology to the iron and steel industry is widely recognized. I'm confident DigitalPlant's comprehensive solutions for the distributed enterprise will further enhance this reputation, while increasing BSEE's productivity and competitive edge."
BSEE was looking for a design solution that also offered scalability, ease of use, and excellent support - standard features of all DigitalPlant solutions, including the PlantSpace Equipment product it selected. Moreover, the company wanted a supplier with a proven track record in infrastructure design and a broad range of product offerings. Bentley's more than 21 years of experience in infrastructure software and comprehensive portfolio for the plant, building, civil, and geospatial verticals more than met that requirement.
"It will be our pleasure to serve BSEE's complete infrastructure software needs," added Mr. Sun Gang. "Our goal will be to help BSEE work faster and better as it becomes a more agile, efficient organization through its use of Bentley's DigitalPlant solutions."
