P.O. Box 733
Newberry, SC, 29108
USA

Press release date: September 4, 2007

Shakespeare Composite Structures(TM) has received RUS (Rural Utility Service, US Department of Agriculture) acceptance of its Lewtex® composite crossarms. The RUS acceptance is the first ever listing of a composite crossarm.

The Lewtex® design is a sandard 3½" x 4½" profile that matches existing hardware and brackets. The arm is manufactured hollow, then filled with high-density, closed-cell foam that prevents the entry or migration of moisture through the arm. The crossarms can be field drilled without the need for inserts or other auxiliary materials.

All Lewtex® crossarms include a protective veil under the resin rich outer surface and are coated with a very high quality UV-protective coating to insure very long life. The crossarms are available in standard configurations utilizing brace type construction or in a unitized braceless construction for additional labor and material savings.

Offering the same benefits as Shakespeare Composite Structures(TM) durable composite utility poles, Lewtex® composite crossarms and dead ends are becoming widely used on steel, concrete, and wood distribution and transmission poles. Their exceptional strength and endurance make them ideal for use on composite poles.

Now a division of GenlyteThomas Group (Louisville, KY), Shakespeare Composite Structures(TM) has since the 1950's pioneered the use of fiberglass reinforced composites in lighting and utility poles. The company is the world leader in fiberglass reinforced composite utility poles.

Shakespeare Composite Structures(TM) is on the World Wide Web at www.skp-cs.com.
