Press release date: September 9, 2009

BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom - September 9, 2009 - Severn Trent Services has acquired P.S. Apliclor S.A., a leading supplier of water and wastewater solutions based in Barcelona, Spain. The acquisition is part of Severn Trent Services' plan to significantly grow its business in Europe. Concurrently, the company announced the appointments of a general manager for the P.S. Apliclor Division as well as a sales manager and financial controller for Spain.

According to Alex Lloyd, managing director, Severn Trent Services Operations, "As Severn Trent Services expands its business throughout Europe, our acquisition of P.S. Apliclor S.A. is a key part of our growth strategy. Apliclor is a strong company that has consistently grown its revenues over the past five years. It is highly regarded for its commitment to its customers and the quality of its offerings, which now include additional Severn Trent Services filtration, disinfection and instrumentation products.

"We have substantially grown our European business in just the past two years, and we are poised for even greater success in the future. Apliclor has worked with Severn Trent successfully on some of the region's largest water and wastewater projects, and our combined experience and resources have enabled us to win several new projects over the past 12 to 18 months."

Severn Trent Services and Apliclor have previously won a number of contracts for TETRA® LP Blocks(TM) rapid gravity dual parallel lateral filter floors from Spanish contractors, including the recent award of two contracts for a new clean water filtration design that will ensure significant savings in capital cost for new filters.

TETRA technology is a worldwide leader for wastewater filtration applications, including some of the biggest deep bed and denitrification filters in the world. Currently, more than one million m3/day of effluent is treated by TETRA wastewater filters in Europe, and the combination of Apliclor S.A. with Severn Trent Services will position the company to expand sales of the technology.
