ASTM International Seminar on Environmental Requirements for Commercial and Navy Ships for Efficient Maritime Operations and Effective Environmental Stewardship
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., August 14, 2009-A Seminar on Environmental Requirements for Commercial and Navy Ships for Efficient Maritime Operations and Effective Environmental Stewardship will be held on Dec. 9, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM Committee F25 on Ships and Marine Technology, the seminar will be held in conjunction with the Dec. 8-10 standards development meetings of the committee.
The desired outcome of this seminar is to identify areas where environmental standards should be developed to fill gaps to improve maritime operations and at the same time promote environmental stewardship. Participants will learn the latest requirements for marine environmental protection of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).
The seminar will focus on the following four areas with moderated discussion panels for each: alternative fuels and air emissions reductions; ballast water treatment/IMO ballast water convention; oily water separators; and marine sanitation devices.
Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the seminar and closes Dec. 1. The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members is $125 USD for online registration and $150 USD for on-site registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $150 USD for online registration and $175 USD on site. The fee is waived for presenters and full-time students with a valid I.D.
