Press release date: December 8, 2010

SECO/WARWICK S.A. has supplied a model 2.0VP-4025-78UHV vacuum furnace to the Institute for Nuclear Studies in Swierk, Poland. The furnace is used for the global production of accelerating structures for medical and industrial accelerators.

According to Mr. Matusiak from Institute for Nuclear Studies, "Accelerating structure is a cavities system powered from microwave power source, where by using rapidly changing electromagnetic field accelerates electrons to speed comparable with velocity of light. That speeding electrons (if electrons go to high-density material like wolfram) are converted to gamma radiation. This radiation by his penetrating can be use to destruction of tumor tissue in medical accelerators or to screening elements of steel in industrial accelerators. On quality of work accelerating structures is hugely influenced by the purity and vacuum level, where are carried out technological processes."
