Press release date: May 29, 2009

SCHUNK, manufacturer of high quality workholding, toolholding and automation of Morrisville, NC awards Grand Prize Winner Tim Best with Pit Crew Member of the day. SCHUNK is the Official Workholding Solutions Partner of Joe Gibbs Racing and provides zero point palleting systems, magnetic workholding solutions, lathe chucks and custom workholding solutions to Joe Gibbs Racing of Huntersville, NC.

As the grand prize winner of the SCHUNK Power Chuck Challenge drawing at IMTS 08, Tim Best won the role as a Pit Crew Member for the day at Darlington Raceway on May 9th SPRINT Cup race and worked on the Team of Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch throughout the entire race.

Best is a Technical Instructor at Craven Community College, New Bern, NC. He attended IMTS 08 with the school's Machinist Club to see the latest technology in the machining industry. At Craven Community College the machinist students formed a Machinist Club in 2005 with the purpose to raise money to be able to go to the Chicago IMTS Shows and Charlotte South Tec shows. In 2006 the Machinist Club raised just over $12,000.00 to send 30 of its members to IMTS 06. In 2008 the Club raised close to $14,500.00 to take 33 students to IMTS. Each IMTS the students fly to Chicago for 4 days and 3 nights. This has become a significant motivator for the students to participate not only in fundraising but also in the Machinist Club Charity events within the community. The Machinist Club makes most of its funds through community donations. The club had a very exciting time at IMTS and was able to see the latest technologies in CNC machining and manufacturing. Members that went to IMTS 08 are still talking about how educating the show was. The Club is currently fundraising for IMTS 10 and looks forward to going.
