Schneider Electric Introduces Industry-First Customer Collaborative Project Portal

Improving Project Efficiency Ten to Thirty Percent Using a Single Web Tool

PALATINE, Ill. - September 29, 2010 - Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today announced the launch of its new Collaborative Project Portal, a private, online community that provides easy access to the people, information and technology to guide technical end-users through energy management projects.

Available to all Schneider Electric customers, the site is the first private project management tool in the industry to provide real time access to Schneider Electric's energy management professionals, system engineers, best practices, and solutions. The portal includes comprehensive web meeting capabilities and social networking features all which help customers decrease costs, expedite time-to-market and boost productivity on energy management projects. Projects managed in the portal are estimated to have efficiency gains of ten to thirty percent.

"Our customers are increasingly implementing complex projects with a focus on improving energy efficiency," said Aaron Davis, Chief Marketing Officer, Schneider Electric. "The Portal provides a single interface to our customers on the web, allowing them to quickly and easily bring together the internal and external networks that drive any major project."

The portal provides customers direct access to a Schneider Electric Certified Energy Architect (CEA) responsible for overseeing the entire project implementation from start to finish. Each CEA is chosen based on their distinct, specialized expertise in various industry sectors, providing them the ability to fully understand each customer's needs. The CEAs are responsible for coordinating systems engineers across the project and providing answers to all energy management-related issues. Combining the CEA's expertise with the various components of the site is the key to the efficient execution of the project.

"The initial customer response has been overwhelmingly positive. There are currently over 2,000 individual customers using the portal, and we are on track to reach 5,000 by the end of the year," Davis said.

Every member of a customer's global team has non-stop access to the portal through the site's web meeting feature which provides live editing capabilities, video and audio recording and picture capture. Technical end-users, customers and Schneider Electric employees will also be able to connect with members of their project teams and bridge global communities through the social networking capabilities of the site. Each member will be able to create and maintain a profile, create groups based on interests, and search and link with other experts to make connections and share ideas.

With the ability to streamline communication and keep the entire supply-chain of contacts organized, the project management features of the portal decrease project lead times and create a more cost-effective process. Members have the ability to invite all global project teams, create, allocate and manage task lists in different languages, upload and share documents, charts and other materials and edit them together live on the screen.
