Sandvik Coromant Applies for ISO Standard on the Coromant Capto System

Coromant Capto has been on the market for some 15 years now and has gained a broad acceptance and a strong position in the area of quick tool changing systems and modular tools, besides as an interface directly integrated in machine spindles and turrets.

Coromant Capto is considered the only true universal system covering all metal cutting operations in machines such as Turning Centres, Machining Centres and Multi-Task Machines.

Outstanding performance combined with high precision and excellent quality are characteristics for the system, which make heavy demands on manufacturing the couplings. At the present moment there are five external manufacturers producing Coromant Capto on licenses.

To safeguard the level of quality required producing a Coromant Capto coupling according to our specifications, furthermore to make sure of the future compatibility of the system, we have applied for an ISO standard on the Coromant Capto coupling, says Kenneth Sundberg, vice President Product Management, Sandvik Coromant.

By doing this the users of Coromant Capto can be ensured about retained performance and quality in their future machining.

The application was officially announced at the ISO meeting 17 June, 2005, in Stockholm, Sweden, and received a very positive response from its members.
