SafeNet Receives IKEv2 Interoperability Certification for IPSec Toolkit

QuickSec Toolkit Certification Assures Cross-Vendor Interoperability

BALTIMORE, Maryland, December 20, 2006 - SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced that its QuickSec IPSec VPN toolkit for networking OEMs successfully passed the Virtual Private Network Consortium's (VPNC) interoperability tests for the IKEv2 authentication standard. With the IKEv2 Basic Interoperability Certification, OEM developers can focus on adding security features to their networking products and ensure system interoperability.

"We are pleased that SafeNet is in the first group of security system vendors to pass our strict IKEv2 certification standards," said Paul Hoffman, director of the VPN Consortium. "QuickSec has a proven history of IPSec standard compliance and this certification assures VPN users that the IPSec toolkit is interoperable with any other IKEv2 system on the market."

The IKEv2 standard for VPN authentication and key exchange is the successor of IKEv1 on which the vast majority of VPN gateways are based. IKEv2 has significant advantages over IKEv1, most notably in security, speed, simplicity, and handling of remote access users. IKEv2 is also the foundation of the new mobile authentication and key exchange standard MOBIKE, which extends the IKEv2 standard to support roaming, mobility and multi-homing.

"The IKEv2 interoperability certificate underscores SafeNet's commitment to providing the most reliable and interoperable IPSec networking solutions in the market," said Tero Kivinen, contributing author of the IKEv2 standard and SafeNet architect for QuickSec. "SafeNet's broad security expertise and active participation in standard bodies ensures that our IPSec systems provide robust and standard-compliant security solutions that meet the most demanding requirements of networking OEMs."

The IKEv2 Basic Interoperability logo is the latest addition to SafeNet's existing QuickSec VPNC Interoperability Certifications, including IPSec and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) interoperability.
