Irvine, CA (May 10th, 2010) - Sabritec, a Smiths Interconnect business and a highly integrated engineering and manufacturing company providing special interconnect solutions for military, aerospace, telecom, space, test and measurement, and commercial applications, now offers transient protection solutions embedded within the connector shell utilizing surface mount (SMT) diodes.
Using SMT diode technology allows for increased flexibility in the packaging of transient protection within the connector. This provides space and weight savings based on connector application requirements and addresses issues related to limited source availability of axially leaded components. Other advantages of SMT diodes are low incremental surge resistance with fast response time, typically less than 1.0ps, better thermal conductivity for high power dissipation requirements, and improved shock and vibration resistance.
