Saar-Hartmetall recently commissioned a LGA 3000 Type III High Performance Beveller at Shaw Modular Solutions in Lake Charles, La.
The LGA 3000 Type III is a state of the art beveller that can apply up to 4 inch wide bevels on large steel plates. The machine's table length is 10 ft, but it can process longer pieces as well, due to its C-shaped frame that allows for longer parts to be indexed through it.
Shaw Modular Solutions primarily fabricates and assembles structural, piping and equipment modules for new nuclear power plants. The facility is fabricating segments that will be used to assemble 1,100-ton large structural modules that form an integral part of the auxiliary and containment buildings of nuclear power plants. They are also used to assemble 1,000-ton structural modules that form the steam generator compartments and refueling canals within the containment vessels.

The GERMIA LGA 3000 Type III Beveller has the capability to apply top and bottom bevels on thin and thick plates with the highest precision along the full length of the work piece and at the same time minimal heat-generation.
The LGA 3000 Type III Beveller can apply top bevels between 0 and 80 degrees and bottom bevels between 0 and 45 degrees on up to 4" thick plates. It utilizes high performance abrasive belts to apply the bevels. There is no need for follow up processes since the bevel-surface is ground and burr-free.
The LGA Beveller Series is of modular design, so that custom configurations to customer specifications are easily achieved.
