STMicroelectronics' Motion-Control Module Selected Most Popular Product of the Year by EE Times

Geneva - The industry's first customizable motor-mounted motion-control module from STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) was selected as the most popular electro-mechanical product of the year in EE Times' ACE (Annual Creativity in Electronics) Awards program. This prestigious electronics industry recognition event honors outstanding achievements of people, products and companies that show leadership and innovation in the global industry.

Named EE Times' hottest product of 2010 in the Electro-mechanical category, ST's SPIMD20 motion-control module combines custom configurability, high performance, and the convenience of distributed control for the first time in an off-the-shelf module. It is small enough to mount directly on the motor and provides connection via industrial Ethernet, enabling faster delivery of elegant, cost-effective industrial solutions such as multi-axis robotics, conveyors, packaging machines, and process automation equipment.

The Most Popular Products of the Year are selected by EE Times editors from a shortlist of the most-viewed product stories of the past year. The 2011 EE Times ACE Awards were presented at ESC Silicon Valley on May 3, 2011.
