SRS Technologies Debuts Secure Online Shopping Portal for Document Detective

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Aug. 16 -- SRS Technologies, a leading provider of system engineering, system integration, and IT services and products, today announced that its Document Detective software is available immediately for secure online purchases via the website docdet.com/. Launched this past spring, Document Detective 2.0 is an electronic document security scanning tool designed to prevent inadvertent data disclosures when classified documents are shared. Document Detective identifies and eliminates hidden data in Microsoft Office files, and it identifies hidden data in HTML, text, and Adobe PDF files.

"As accidental data exposures continue to occur and cause organizations embarrassment and legal woes, companies will realize the importance of having a tool like Document Detective readily available to scan electronic documents for hidden data," said Ronald Hackett, program manager with SRS Technologies' Systems Solutions Division. "SRS is committed to providing its government and commercial customers with the highest level of document security available and the launch of our online shopping site for Document Detective will enable faster access to the data protection they need."

The online store for Document Detective enables users to receive tech support, program patches and updates, and pertinent information on hidden data issues. The site contains a technical support portal which offers customers a means to report problems with an average response time of less than 24 hours. The site also enables interested parties to download a free, 30-day evaluation copy of the software.

SRS' Electronic Document Review System (EDRS), which helps government and commercial organizations safely and reliably review, share, and transfer sensitive or classified documents, will also be available as part of the online Document Detective package. EDRS expands the functionality of the Document Detective scanning tool and creates a much-needed audit trail for organizations to perform reliable and thorough reviews of documents before they are transferred outside company boundaries.

Document Detective can process, identify and sanitize more than 100 types of hidden data, including Meta data, tracked changes, comments, embedded object linking and embedding (OLE) files, embedded objects and object fragments, which is often invisible to the human eye. Document Detective is the only product that can successfully identify and sanitize Microsoft's Ad Hoc Review, an extremely dangerous feature that was added to Office XP and 2003. Ad Hoc Review enables Tracked Changes and inserts tracking information into Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents without warning the user when a file is attached to an email.

Document Detective was specifically engineered to process classified documents and meets the Government's most stringent compliance requirements to provide 100% reliable human review, and it exceeds the requirements set forth in the NSA's recently published guidance on data redaction.

Starting at $300 for a single user license, Document Detective is available immediately for online credit card purchases via docdet.com/.
