SME announced winners of Annual Chapter Award Recognition, which were recognized for meeting standards of success set by SME's Chapter Enhancement Committee. Winners were awarded gold, silver, or bronze status based on 4 categories: advancement of manufacturing, merit, professional development, and communication to members and community. Requirements range from interaction with other chapters and community outreach to maintaining current websites and social media pages.

SME recognizes 18 high-performing chapters
DEARBORN, Mich., - The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is pleased to announce the winners of the Annual Chapter Award Recognition. These 18 high-performing chapters were recognized with awards for meeting standards of success set by SME's Chapter Enhancement Committee.
Winners were awarded gold, silver or bronze status based on four categories of success: advancement of manufacturing, merit, professional development, and communication to members and the community. Requirements for the categories range from interaction with other chapters and community outreach to maintaining current websites and social media pages.
Two chapters received Gold status, having each met success standards in three categories. They are: Chapter 39, Seattle; Chapter 186, Waterloo, Iowa.
Six chapters were awarded Silver status, having achieved success in two categories. They are: Chapter 24, Elmira, N.Y.; Chapter 29, Houston; Chapter 98, Silicon Valley, Calif.; Chapter 105, Memphis, Tenn.; Chapter 107, Greater Smokey Mountain, Tenn.; Chapter 327, Southern N.H.
11 chapters were awarded Bronze status for success in one category. They are: Chapter 4, Milwaukee; Chapter 5, Chicago; Chapter 18, Dayton, Ohio; Chapter 38, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Chapter 57, Kansas City, Kan.; Chapter 79, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Chapter 154, Lexington, Ky.; Chapter 159, Florida Suncoast; Chapter 238, Southeast Iowa; Chapter 287, Mid-Missouri; Chapter 430, Greater Charleston.
Recognition for the chapter winners includes an emblem for chapter websites, a certificate and a write-up in the member newsletter.
The Annual Chapter Award Recognition was launched in February 2011 by the Chapter Enhancement Committee, with 14 chapters receiving awards for achieving chapter success. The Committee plays a key role in membership engagement. Some responsibilities include providing continuous improvement suggestions for volunteer leadership development and ensuring senior chapters work collaboratively with student chapters to provide the ability to share knowledge and enhance the member experience.
